What is Badminton?

Badminton is a racket sport that can be played in singles or doubles. Players hit a shuttlecock over a net onto their opponent’s side of the court.

The sport is played on an open court with a high net in the middle.

Badminton is often compared to tennis, although they are very different sports. Many say that badminton is more difficult to master than tennis due to the quick reflexes and agility required.

Badminton developed in British India but has become very popular in Asia, with recent competitions dominated by China.

How to Play Badminton

Two players (singles) or four players (doubles) hit the shuttlecock over the net to the other side of the net. Only one stroke is allowed to get the shuttlecock over the net. A rally ends when the shuttlecock touches the ground, and the other side is given a point.

A badminton match is made up of three games, each played to 21 points.

Where to Find Badminton Gear

Like most racket sports, the only gear you need to play badminton, other than a net, is a badminton racket, shuttlecock, and court shoes. Once you’re ready to hit the badminton courts, we’ve got you covered with badminton gear at our stores in Colorado and Las Vegas and online
